Every statement and notice Caruso generates carries a footer holding a disclaimer and your contact details. You can edit these footers in the Admin App, so your documents show your own wording without any input from Caruso.
The Five Statement Footers
Caruso uses five footers, one per category of document. Every generated document uses exactly one footer, decided by its type. Footers cannot be created or deleted, only edited.
Footer | Covers | Document types |
Payment & order notices | Transactional notices created from a payment or holding movement | Capital Call Notice, Application Payment Notice, Unit Redemption Notice, Unit Transfer Notice, Unit Issue Notice, Distribution Payment Notice |
Investing entity statements | Whole-of-portfolio statements addressed to an investing entity, spanning all of their holdings and funds | Investor Summary, Investor Distribution Summary |
Holding statements | Statements produced for a single fund or holding | Investor Fund Summary, Investor Holding Summary, Investor Periodic, Investor Exit |
Tax statements | Tax documents issued to investors | AU Tax, LP Tax, PIE Tax, PO Tax, Company Dividend |
Regulatory statements | Regulatory documents | Recipient Created Tax Invoice |
Which documents each footer covers is set by Caruso and changes only with a release. You cannot move a document type between footers.
Note: Draft redemption notices use the Unit Redemption Notice footer rather than a footer of their own.
Viewing Your Footers
In the navigation pane, select Settings.
Open Statement Footers.
The list shows all five footers with their Name, Description, and the Document type entries each one covers. A footer you have edited carries a Customised badge. A footer covering no document types shows None yet.
Editing a Footer
From the Statement Footers list, select the footer you want to change.
Under Statement editor, check the Applies to field. This is a read-only list of the document types this footer covers.
Edit the Disclaimer and Contact info fields.
Check the Preview at the bottom of the page.
Click Save changes.
Each footer has two parts, shown beneath a horizontal rule on the document:
Disclaimer — the legal or informational text, shown in a smaller font. Up to 1,000 characters.
Contact info — your fund and organisation details, shown in a larger font. Up to 400 characters.
A character counter sits under each field. The count is of the text you type, so a merge token counts as the characters of the token itself, not the value it fills in with.
Each footer starts from a Caruso default matching the standard wording for its category, so you only need to make changes if you want something different.
Note: Changes apply to documents generated after you save. Documents already generated are unaffected. Regenerating a statement uses the current footer.
Formatting
The editor toolbar gives you three options:
Bold — bold the selected text.
Link — turn the selected text into a link. You can use a merge token inside the link address, for example
mailto:{{tenant.support_email}}.Insert token — insert a merge token (see below).
Line breaks are supported. Headings, bullet lists, and tables are not.
Using Merge Tokens
Merge tokens are placeholders that fill in with real values as each document is generated. This is how one footer renders correctly across every fund: the labels are your own typed text, and the values come from tokens.
Click Insert token to open a searchable list, grouped by token type, and select the token you want.
Group | Tokens | Fills in from |
Tenant |
| Your organisation's settings |
Investing entity |
| The investing entity the document is addressed to |
Fund |
| The fund the document relates to |
A few things to keep in mind:
The picker only offers tokens that work on that footer. Tokens that cannot fill in on a footer's documents are left out of the list. On the Investing entity statements footer, for example, fund tokens are unavailable, because those statements can span several funds and no single fund could be named. Where a group is excluded, a note under the fields tells you which one.
Empty values are left blank. If a token has no value, such as a fund with no registration number, it renders as empty text and the text around it is unchanged.
The preview shows exactly what will render. It uses clearly labelled sample data at the real document width, so you can check wrapping and font sizes before saving.
Resetting a Footer
To discard your changes and return a footer to the standard Caruso wording:
Open the footer, or click the ellipsis (...) on its row in the Statement Footers list.
Select Reset to Caruso default.
Confirm the reset.
Resetting deletes your saved customisation and cannot be undone. It affects only that footer; the other four are unchanged. The option is unavailable on a footer you have not customised.
