The statements module in Caruso provides the flexibility to generate and distribute various investment statements, whether for a specific investor, a group of tagged investing entities, or as a batch statement for the entire investor base.

Step 1: Creating a New Statement

  • In the navigation pane, select Statements

  • Click Create statement in the top right of the page.

You will be guided through the required fields, which may vary based on the type of statement you are generating:

  • Statement name:

    • Internal reference for your team.

    • Investors will see the configured statement name (e.g., “Investor Summary Statement”).

  • Statement type:

    • Choose from the following options.

      • Investor Distribution Statement

      • Investor Summary Statement

      • NZ Tax Statement - Limited Partnership

      • NZ Tax Statement - Proportionate Ownership

      • NZ Tax Statement - Multi-rate PIE

      • NZ Tax Statement - Dividend Statement

    • This ensures you select the specific kind of financial or tax statement required

  • Target recipients

    • Caruso helps determine who should receive the statement, depending on its type:

      • For summary or distribution statements: target individual entities, all entities, or filter by tags

      • For tax statements: target all holdings in a fund

  • Dates:

    • Choose the date range to include relevant entities, holdings, and transactions.

  • Commentary: (optional)

    • Add custom text to appear at the bottom of the statement

Step 2: Provide Additional Data (If Required)

  • If your selected statement type requires data not already stored in Caruso, you’ll be prompted to download a custom dataset.

  • Download data: Get a dataset including the latest Caruso data and custom columns to enrich.

  • Enrich data:
Outside of Caruso, reference the read-only data and populate the custom columns with your additional information.

    • Upload data:

      • Once you have enriched the dataset, export your data as a CSV and upload it back into Caruso.

      • Caruso validates the file during upload. You may see one of the following errors if there is a problem:

        • ⚠️ Changed column headers: Check that no columns have been added, deleted, or renamed, as this prevents statement generation.

        • ⚠️ Missing data: Ensure that no rows have been added or deleted, as this affects the mapping of investor records.

        • ⚠️ Invalid statement IDs: Make sure you are uploading the correct file for this batch of statements.

      • This process ensures your custom data can be correctly mapped in bulk.

Tip: Apply any rounding and formatting to your data before uploading. Caruso will publish values exactly as uploaded.

Step 3: Confirm Statement Data

After setting up your statement (and uploading additional data if needed), a draft version is created. In this stage, you can:

  • Preview individual statements as PDFs

  • Download the enriched dataset (if applicable)

  • Edit the draft: update recipients, date range, or commentary

  • Confirm and publish: schedule publication, choose email notifications, and publish to the Investor Portal and Admin App (enabled by default)

Step 4: View Final Statements

  • Once published, you can return at any time to:

    • View final statements (Which will auto-download the statement)

    • Download all statements as a ZIP file

    • Download the final data CSV (if applicable)
