Contact owners are the teammates responsible for managing the relationship with an account. An account can have no contact owners, one, or many, so teams across different desks or offices can co-manage the same account.
Note: Contact owners were previously called the Account Manager. Existing Account Manager assignments carry over automatically as contact owners, so nothing is lost when the change is switched on.
Prerequisites
You need the same permission that lets you edit an account today. No new permission is required
Only teammates on the Investor Relations team can be selected as contact owners
Assigning contact owners to an account
In the navigation pane, select Accounts
Use the search or filters to find and select the required account
In the account header, open the Contact owners picker
Select one or more teammates from the list. Only teammates on the Investor Relations team are available for selection in the contact owner dropdowns. Each teammate's Business Unit appears as a badge next to their name when one is set
Selected contact owners appear as removable chips in the account header. Click the X on a chip to remove that contact owner
Save your changes
Saving replaces the full list of contact owners rather than adding to it. If an account has no contact owners, the header shows a dash.
Note: If two people edit the same account's contact owners at the same time, the last change saved wins.
Adding a business unit to a teammate
A teammate's business unit, for example a city desk or an office, appears next to their name when you assign contact owners.
In the navigation pane, select Configuration
Go to the Teammates tab
Click edit on the relevant teammate
Enter the Business Unit. This is optional free text of up to 100 characters
Save your changes
Business unit starts empty for every existing teammate, so populate it as you go. Clearing the field is allowed, and the teammate simply appears without a badge.
Viewing and filtering by contact owner
A Contact owners column appears at the right-hand end of the Accounts list, and on the Book Build and Applications tabs of a capital raise.
The column lists each contact owner's name with their business unit in brackets, for example
Jane Smith (Sydney), John Doe (Melbourne). Where an account has more than two, the rest are shown as+N moreWhere an account has no contact owners, the column shows a dash
The column cannot be sorted, because an account can have several contact owners
Use the Contact owners filter to narrow the list. An account matches if any one of its contact owners is selected
Select (No contact owner) in the filter to find accounts with nobody assigned
Teammates who have been disabled
If a teammate assigned as a contact owner is later disabled:
Their chip stays on the account with an (Inactive) label, so you keep the record of who was responsible
They no longer appear in the picker or the filter, so they cannot be assigned to anything new
Re-enabling the teammate restores them to the picker and the filter
Where the name change applies
The rename from Account Manager to Contact owners applies to the Admin App and to downloadable CSV reports. In reports, the column is renamed and each cell lists every contact owner on the account. Automated emails are unchanged.
