You can now use the Caruso File Converter tool to easily create the prescribed Australian Tax Office (ATO) format for QTFN reporting.

Supported Version

Caruso supports v6.2.2 of the QTFN Electronic Specification

Instructions:

  1. On the Reports section of the Admin App, download the All Holdings report

    1. Download the report as at the last day of the quarter for you are submitting (e.g. 31 March for Q1)

  2. On the File Converter section of the Admin App, select the QTFN converter

    1. Upload the All Holdings report to transform it into the required ATO format.

    2. Complete details required by the ATO that are not stored on Caruso

    3. Select Download QTFN files to generate the XML files that can be submitted directly to the ATO

Run Type

  • Production - Select Production if your process usually just submits a final submission to the ATO.

  • Test - Select Test if your process usually tests a submission with the ATO before filling your final submission.

Fund

NOTE - Caruso has scoped an improvement to this process where we could extend the file converter to combine all fund and investor details into one QTFN submission per fund manager (rather than separate reports per fund). Please contact us to discuss.

  • All - By default, the file converter selects “All”. On this setting, the file converter will produces one zip file containing a separate QTFN report per fund.

  • [Fund name] - Select a specific fund if your process doesn’t file a QTFN report for all funds

File For

NOTE - Caruso is seeking feedback on which investors need to be reported on in each QTFN report. The ATO specifications are not clear on this point. In the interim, you can choose between various settings.

  • All investing entities - The file converter will include all investing entities in the funds

  • New investments - The file converter will filter out investors, and only include investors with new investments created during the quarter. This is based on the Holding - Created Date

  • New Investors - The file converter will filter out investors and only include investors that have been created during the quarter. This is based on the Investing Entity - Created Date

Supplier Details

  • Supplier is interpreted as the Fund Manager. Please complete the details on this form. These are not details that are stored on Caruso.

For more information on how your fund and investor data is mapped to the ATO's QTFN specification please contact Caruso.
