How to Customise Email Footers

Add your own message above the standard compliance text on the emails Caruso sends to your investors.

Written by Rupin Kulkarni

Caruso adds a footer to the emails it sends on your behalf. Each footer combines your own editable text with locked content that always appears beneath it. In the Admin App you can review the default footer for each category and overwrite it with your own wording. This article explains the three footer types and how to customise them.

The Three Email Footers

Caruso uses three footers, each covering a different group of emails. Footers cannot be created or deleted, only edited.

Footer

Applies to

Transactional

Emails about orders, distributions, holding and tax statements, and fund updates sent in relation to an investing entity

Access & Compliance

Portal access, account security, and verification emails, such as welcome emails, password resets, and identity or bank verification requests

Marketing

Marketing and broadcast emails composed through the Communications feature

Each footer's page shows a read-only list of the email types it covers.

Understanding the Two Parts of a Footer

Every footer is made up of two stacked parts:

  • Your footer text sits at the top. Anything you write here appears above the locked content on every email the footer covers. Use it to add additional context, such as referring to your marketing website or other materials.

  • The locked content sits beneath your text. It is system-owned and always included, so the recipient can understand why they have received the email and, on Marketing emails, how to unsubscribe. It cannot be edited or removed.

Note: Because the locked content is always present, the footer remains complete and compliant whatever you write in your footer text.

Viewing Your Footers

  • In the navigation pane, select Settings.

  • Under Communications, select Email Footers.

The summary table shows all three footers and the email types each one covers. From here you can review the default footer for each category or overwrite it with your own wording. A footer with a customisation in place carries a Customised tag.

Editing a Footer

  • From the Email Footers list, select the footer you want to edit.

  • Type your text into the Footer section. This is the only editable section of the editor. You can use bold formatting and line breaks; other formatting is not supported and will be flagged by the editor.

  • To fill in dynamic data, use the insert token option to add system variables (see below).

  • Check the preview, which shows your text above the locked content exactly as it will be laid out in the email.

  • Click Save.

Note: The Footer section has a 1,000-character limit, shown by the character counter. Changes apply to emails sent after you save; emails already sent are not affected.

Using System Variables

System variables are placeholders you can insert to fill in dynamic data as each email is sent, such as your fund manager legal name and support email (the tenant variables), or the name of the investing entity the email relates to, as relevant to the footer. They display in their raw form (for example {{tenant.legal_name}}) in the editor and preview, and fill in with real values when each email is sent.

Note: The picker only offers variables relevant to the footer you are editing. A variable with no value is left blank rather than showing the raw variable.

Resetting a Footer

To revert a footer to the standard Caruso default and discard your customisation:

  • Open the footer.

  • Select Clear footer.

  • Confirm the reset.

Resetting deletes your saved customisation and cannot be undone. It affects only that footer. The option is unavailable on a footer you have not customised.
