How to Add to an Existing Investment

How to use the Add to Investment button to invest further in a holding you already own.

Written by Rupin Kulkarni

If you already hold units in a fund and it has an open capital raise you're eligible to apply to, the Investor Portal gives you a fast way to invest more — without starting a fresh application from scratch. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Find the Holding

  • Log in to the Investor Portal. Your Portfolio page shows your holdings across every investing entity you have access to.

  • If you hold units through more than one investing entity, use the Investing Entity filter (or search) to find the right holding. For more detail, see How to Filter Your Portfolio by Investing Entity.

  • Click View details next to the holding you want to add to.

Step 2: Click Add to Investment

  • On the holding's details page, click Add to Investment, alongside the Redeem and Sell buttons.

Note: This button only appears when there's exactly one open capital raise you're eligible to apply to for that holding's unit class. If there's no eligible raise, or more than one, the button won't show. If the holding has zero units, the button appears greyed out with a tooltip explaining there are no units to add to. If you only have view access to the investing entity, it appears greyed out with a "no permission" tooltip.

Step 3: Complete the Application

Clicking Add to Investment takes you straight into the application for that capital raise, with your investing entity already selected. Because you're an existing investor on this entity, several steps are pre-filled and marked complete for you: investing entity, tax details, nature and purpose, and bank account (using the entity's default bank account on file).

  • You'll land on the first remaining step — usually Investment Details — and continue through the application as normal: investment amount, any additional documents, and confirmation.

  • If your investing entity doesn't have a bank account on file, you'll land on the Bank Account step first to add one, then continue as normal.

  • Any pre-filled step remains visible in the sidebar, so you can go back and review or change it — for example, to pick a different bank account — before you submit.

What Happens Next

  • You can track the progress of your application in the Orders view.

  • Your fund manager will review your application and may contact you for more information or to discuss next steps.

  • Look out for email notifications, including capital call instructions, deposit receipts, and unit issuance notices. Once your application is approved, funds are received, and units are issued, your holding value will update to reflect the additional investment.
